OGX announces Brazilian offshore oil discovery
Oil has been discovered in the Campos basin, off the coast of Brazil.
Brazilian oil and gas company OGX Petroleo e Gas Participacoes says it has identified the presence of hydrocarbons in the Albian section of the 1-OGX-33-RJS well, also known as the Chimborazo prospect.
The firm reports that it has discovered an oil column of approximately 95 metres with around 42 metres of net pay in carbonate reservoirs of the Albian section.
The well is located at a water depth of about 127 metres in the BM-C-41 block, where OGX holds a 100 per cent working interest.
Drilling at the well ended at a final depth of 3,755 metres.
